Derby Disc Golf Park

The courses

Three complete 18-hole layers — not one course with a few extra tees.

Each layer is a full course in its own right, designed for a different player on a different day. Together they mean a ten-year-old, a weekend regular and a touring pro can all show up at the same park and each get the round they came for.

Layer one

Practice / Pitch-and-Putt Course

Short, forgiving, and genuinely fun on the first throw.

Eighteen holes built so a first-timer or a ten-year-old can finish a round feeling good about it — and so experienced players can run ace laps, sharpen up inside the circle, and warm up before a bigger round. It doubles as the warm-up area for the rest of the park and as the home base for clinics and school groups.

  • Full 18 holes, short distances
  • Ideal for beginners, kids and clinics
  • Ace runs and putting practice for experienced players
  • Doubles as the warm-up area

Layer two

Community Course

The course most people will play most often.

Reasonable distances and a family-friendly flow: enough shot variety to stay interesting round after round, without the length or technical punishment that turns a casual afternoon into a slog. This is the everyday course — league nights, after-work rounds, a family playing together at different skill levels.

  • Reasonable, walkable distances
  • Family-friendly flow and pacing
  • Shot variety that rewards repeat play
  • The default course for most visits

Layer three

Championship Course

Eighteen holes that can play as several different courses.

Multiple tee pads and multiple basket positions per hole mean the same 18 can play short-to-short, long-to-long, or anywhere in between. That flexibility is what makes a course worth driving to again and again — and what makes it capable of hosting tournament-level play without becoming unplayable the rest of the year.

  • Multiple tee pads per hole
  • Multiple basket positions per hole
  • Short-to-short through long-to-long configurations
  • Built for repeat visits and tournament play

Eighteen to thirty-six of these holes will be designed with local players. Adopt one of them

Not just for disc golfers

Miles of hiking trail through restored acreage and along Goose Creek.

Trail-building is part of the restoration plan, not an afterthought. As invasive growth comes out and native planting goes in, we cut and stabilize trail that opens up woods and creek frontage most Louisvillians have never seen — with improved access to Goose Creek and routing that keeps walkers clear of active fairways.

Designed for safety and cohesion

A designer or design team leads technical layout across all three courses — routing, par, safety corridors, tee and target placement — so the park reads as one coherent place, and so hikers, families and players share it comfortably.
