Derby Disc Golf Park

Youth & impact

Thousands of Louisville kids, outdoors, with something to work at.

This is the part of the project that matters most to us. Not a sidebar — the reason to build it. Years from now, the measure of this park won't be its course rating. It'll be how many kids found the outdoors, a team, and something they could get better at on their own.

Top project priority

Youth & schools

Direct ties to local schools — not a flyer on a bulletin board.

We're building programs a teacher can actually run and a family can actually afford: equipment, instruction, transportation-friendly scheduling, and follow-through so a first throw turns into a habit.

PE-module partnerships

A ready-to-run disc golf unit for physical education teachers — equipment, targets and a simple curriculum a PE teacher can teach without prior experience.

Field trip days

Class visits to the park built around the practice course: a short lesson, a supervised round, and time in restored woods along Goose Creek.

Starter sets for kids

A sponsored starter set puts a disc set in a kid's hands to keep. The sport only sticks if a kid can throw at home, at a school yard, or with a friend.

Baskets donated to schools

Permanent baskets installed at partner schools, so the game lives where kids already are — not only out at the park.

Professional instructors are brought in for clinics, so kids learn the game from people who play it at a high level.

“Disc golf is walking through the woods with a purpose.”

Clinics

Learn it properly.

Beginner clinics
Monthly in season. Grip, stance, one flight path, and a first real putt — for kids and adults who have never thrown.
Intermediate clinics
Shot shaping, disc selection, and course management for players who can already complete a round comfortably.
Advanced / tournament prep
Scoring rounds, tee-pad routines, wind reads, and the mental side of competitive play.
Visiting pro clinics
Whenever a touring pro or creator visits the park, we run a special open clinic around it.

Leagues & events

Reasons to come back every week.

Weekly adult league
A recurring in-season league night — the heartbeat of the park's regular attendance.
Junior league
A supervised, age-appropriate league so kids have their own night, their own group, and their own progression.
Annual fundraiser tournament
One flagship event a year that funds programming and brings the wider region to Louisville.
Stewardship Days
Play and give back: organized restoration work paired with a round, so the maintenance culture is built in from the start.

Youth sponsorships are the cheapest way to change a kid’s year.

Starter-pack and school-basket sponsorships are low-cost, high-impact, and go straight into kids’ hands.
